He lifts your head...
urging me to throw in the towel, to concede. Sadness and doubt are part of what it means to be human in this world and we read in the gospels that Jesus himself experienced intense opposition, exasperation, annoyance and frustration. We are not alone in the struggle!
However, instead of giving up, Jesus finished his race, gloriously! Now he cheers us on the other side of our finishing line, urging us not to give up, cheered on by the saints who have gone before us (see Hebrews 12).
In his grace and kindness, our loving God raises our sights. As King David wrote, fleeing from his enemy:
"But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
I cried out to the Lord,
and he answered me from his holy mountain." (Psalm 3:3-4)

May the Lord himself be your shield. I pray right now that you would sense your heavenly Father lifting your head, to see above your circumstances, above your pain and doubts, and catch a fresh glimpse of his risen Son who reigns victorious!
