Burkina Faso - Leegere
In 2003, during a visit to this landlocked West African country, we struck up a friendship with Moise and Elisabeth Oubda. They are outstanding apostolic leaders who have now seen over 35 churches planted in unreached peoples in rural Burkina, as well as Mali and Senegal, from their base in Bobo-Dioulasso. Through this partnership Wellspring Church has facilitated and been part of 6 of those church-plants, as well as sending teams to train Assemblies of God pastors, and their wives. Alongside this Elisabeth is leading the Dorcas project to train young women in skills such as sewing and hair dressing, which they can use to make living.
The Leegere Partnership
The ‘Leegere’ Partnership is based on a local concept, that when people need especial help with the harvest/a farming or home-making project that needs more hands, a ‘leegere’ is called. Through this arrangement, the Lafiabougou church which Moise leads have called upon us to help with providing micro-finance for pastors’ wives, building churches and homes and facilitating outreaches and new churches.
For over 10 years we supported a pioneer church planter called Daniel Ouedraogo whose churches sit on the border with Mali. Sadly he died at the end of 2015 in a motoring accident. We continue to support and pray for his family and the churches he so faithfully pastored.
As a church committed to seeing communities transformed with the love of God, we know our work in Burkina Faso is helping us do just that.
Burkina Faso 'GO' team
A small team spent 10 days in Burkina Faso in February 2019 helping to encourage pastors and plant another church in the village of Serefedougou. A short video report on this trip will be posted here soon.
