Jesus’ love transforming Watford & Beyond

Our Local Partners

  • We partner with a charity called Alternatives.  Their vision is to support, inform and empower women and girls in Watford and the surrounding areas, who are facing pregnancy crisis.

Alternatives also have a Mother & Baby Charity Shop open on 15 Clarendon Road, Watford, WD17 1JR (Opposite Watford Palace Theatre), that offers good quality second hand clothes, equipment, toys and books for babies and children aged 0-5 years.

    Opening Hours:  Tuesday - Friday  9:30am - 4:30pm & Saturday 10am - 4pm

  • We are delighted to partner with Charis Tiwala to help those at risk from the sex trade.

Charis Tiwala is a Christian charity offering support and assistance to anyone in Hertfordshire who is affected by human trafficking or sexual exploitation within the sex industry.

They exist to give people in the sex industry a choice again; a choice to exit if they wish, and a choice to rebuild a new life as they would choose to live it.

  • We are thrilled that Dignify, which was birthed in Wellspring Church, is now registered as a charity in its own right.

Dignify works with community groups across Watford to shape a new porn-free narrative for healthy relationships for children and young people — by informing and empowering them to be protected from the harmful effects of porn.

Our former Senior Leader, Helen Roberts serves as CEO/Founder of Dignify, leading a team of volunteers.

  • New Hope offers help and support to Watford’s homeless and adults at risk through the New Hope Support Centre on Whippendell Road and the Night Shelter in Watford.

Their aim is to prevent homelessness and transform lives. We are delighted to see how this charity continues to grow in effectiveness and scope.

Notably, during January 2019 we played a vital part in the Winter Emergency overnight provision (SWEP) with the Living Room space being used for one week in January while many Wellspring members volunteered to help set up and even sleep over, as part of the project.

  • Watford FoodBank is part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Watford Foodbank works closely with many organisations to support those in crisis and most in need in our area.

The Mulberry Room continues to welcome the FoodBank to use the space on a daily basis to distribute parcels. This is a fruitful partnership and we are delighted that The Wellspring is the primary and busiest distribution point in Watford for those in need of parcels.

  • Since its inception in 2003 we have gladly supported the growing ministry of the Watford Town Centre Chaplaincy.

The Chaplaincy has grown into a team of dedicated volunteer chaplains in a wide variety of workplaces and settings, from nightclubs to supermarkets, Watford Town Hall to the canals.

We continue to support the Chaplaincy financially as well as providing a number of volunteers, including a team of Street Angels serving in the middle of the night in Watford town centre.

  • Wellspring Church partners with Watford Women’s Centre to provide English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL); courses at Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2.  These classes are for men and women who are at the start of their journey into English.

At the heart of these classes is that learners have a safe and happy environment in which to learn.  They are taught by qualified ESOL tutors who endeavour to provide speaking, listening, reading and writing activities at levels which are suitable for each learner.

  • YMCA enables people to develop their full potential in mind, body and spirit. Inspired by and faithful to their Christian values, they create supportive, inclusive and energising communities where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.

Our main support is encouraging volunteers to their thriving chaplaincy department, and our former Senior minister Tim Roberts is now the Head of Christian Mission at One YMCA in Watford.

Our global Partners

  • The Aziz Partnership started with the True Vine Church in Zahlé . The work is being reviewed - listen out for updates.

The physical, mental, and emotional needs in the area are vast, and our strategy is to offer coordinated support and servant leadership in a multi-church Partnership.

Leegere.jpg
  • The ‘Leegere’ Partnership is based on a local concept, when people need especial help with the harvest, farming or a home-making project that needs more hands, a ‘leegere’ is called.

Through this arrangement, since 2003 the Lafiabougou church which Moise and Elisabeth Oubda lead have called upon us to help with providing micro-finance for pastors’ wives, building churches and homes and facilitating outreaches and new churches.

For over 10 years we supported a pioneer church planter called Daniel Ouedraogo whose churches sit on the border with Mali. Sadly he died at the end of 2015 in a motoring accident.

We continue to support and pray for his family and the churches he so faithfully pastored. As a church committed to seeing communities transformed with the love of God, we know our work in Burkina Faso is helping us to do just that.

  • We’ve had connections to East-West Ministries since the 1970’s and from around 2013 have been involved in their work of working relationally with national church leaders in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

With roots in Assemblies of God and growing from a foundation lead by our church member Ron Hibbert, East-West Ministries partners with local minstires and church leaders across Eastern Europe and the Middle East with low overheads and a high commitment to the ministry of encouragement.

East-West are there to stand alongside  and support the vision of the local leader and to support them financially, until they became able to support themselves, East-West takes no salaries or expenses, thus enabling all funds donated to be channelled to the person or purpose for which it was intended.

One of our Leadership Team members, Magdy Tawfik is invovled with East-West as well as members of our church family.

Find out more about East-West ministries on their website.

  • Since 2003 we have been visiting Ethiopia to help with leadership training and church planting work there, alongside Teklu and Selam Wolde, a couple who are at the very forefront of work amongst people groups as yet unreached by the good news of Jesus Christ.

They have built (together with funds we helped raise here at Wellspring Church) a Missionary Training Centre that has fuelled the sending of over 150 well-trained missionaries all over East Africa. We are confident that our financial support (through salary provision) and our commitment to send a team annually to teach in the training centre, is making a lasting difference in that part of the world.

The good news about Jesus crosses every boundary and is breaking through every barrier in powerful ways. What a joy to support an apostolic ministry in this way!
